Hey guys, so I am very excited for this post because it’s been a long time coming! I started my BP skincare challenge in January but I have been planning it since November.  After the challenge I promised a brand review of Beauty Pie and here it is! I will be talking about products and the concept of BP and asking if it’s all worth it! Beware this is a long post! I will link all the reviews.

Products

In total, I have tried 9 BP products, most of which are best sellers. I have full reviews on 6 products.

My favourite products are the Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser, Super Healthy skin daily moisture lotion and the SPF. I’m not as excited about the Super Healthy Skin clay cleanser. It feels slightly drying on my skin and I am not a fan of the texture.

For serums, the Plantastic Micro peeling drops I picked up is another fan favourite however for me it’s ok. These drops are supposed to target spots and texture but after experiencing a bout of texture and breakouts and using this, there was no difference so I reverted back to my trusted TO Salicylic acid and Niacinamide. I will keep testing this out and a full review will be up later in the year. I was also using the Triple HA &peptide serum very popular but I was underwhelmed. I am currently using the Super Healthy Skin daily Defence serum in the mornings. I haven’t noticed any benefits yet but this is still very early days. I have also used the Super Retinols serum and moisturiser and I feel slightly underwhelmed by them.

For face masks, I only picked up one- the very popular Fruitzyme 5 min facial. I have used it a few times and it is really nice. It reminds me of Pixi Peel & Polish. I will bring a full review of this soon.

Concept

Beauty Pie is basically a beauty club, you pay for access to some of the world’s best labs which in turn gives you the products at member’s price instead of the full ‘retail’ price. You also get a monthly allowance which limits how much you can spend. When shopping, the full retail price is deducted from your monthly allowance but you pay the member’s price plus shipping. I decided to get the £20 monthly membership which gives me a monthly allowance of £200.

The Highs and Lows

I have been a BP member for 4 months and I do plan on keeping it for a little while longer for new releases but I will reduce my membership to £5 per month which will give me an allowance of £50.  A few things I have noticed, let’s start with the lows

  • Waiting time for stock– some products take a very long time to come back in stock. For instance, I have been waiting for the Plantastic cleansing balm for the last 5 months! (November-March) I also run out of the Japanfusion cleanser in January and wanted to repurchase it straight away however it went out of stock with an estimate back in stock time of April
  • Costs– the RRP for some prices are very expensive and since this is what comes out of your allowance it has an impact on the number of products you can get. For a £200 allowance, I could roughly get 3 or 4 skincare products with a little rollover. I think the makeup items are priced lower but if you only had a £100 or £50 allowance you would be very limited in the number of skincare products you can get. Real cost of BP– it’s easy to forget the membership fees but the ‘real’ cost month is membership fees + products + delivery
  • Delivery charge– BP is one of the few beauty websites I know that do not offer free delivery. Most beauty sites and in fact most sites I know offer free shipping OR after a certain spend. This means if you were to make two orders in a month like I did (because I made a mistake ordering two of the same retinol moisturiser instead of the serum) you would pay two lots of delivery.  I do have to say that it is a flat rate charge and the dispatch time and delivery is quite fast.

On the brighter side of things

  • Products– I love luxury skincare but I do not like the high price tag. BP allows you to get these products at a lower budget-friendly price. As much as I love the JapanFusion cleanser, I would not want to spend the full £35 on it
  • Product dupes– I read a few reviews that say BP has a few dupes for some high-end products. Most of it was makeup dupes but I haven’t tried any of the makeup. In terms of skincare, the Fruitzyme mask reminds me of the Pixi Peel & Polish. They have very similar textures and claim to do similar things however the member price of the BP mask is only £7 and the full price of the Pixi is £26.
  • Your monthly allowance rolls over! If you don’t finish your allowance for the month, this is added unto your next monthly allowance so you can save up your allowances and do a splurge. They also offer one-off top ups if you really wanted to get more products
  • PIE DAYS– PIE DAYS are days where they offer products to members without paying the retail fee hence you save your allowance!
  • Social media– they are quite good at updating members with new products and restock which is good. The owner is also very active on there and I often find her in the comments replying to questions etc( lol I sound creepy ) but I know because she’s answered a few of mine

Verdict

I will keep my membership going probably till June because they have some exciting products in the pipeline. I am reducing to £5 which is a £50 allowance and since I will have a lot of rollovers this should be fine. I want to purchase the Plantastic balm( still waiting for it to come back), double phase cleanser and the bio breathable primer and the sample perfume set – watch out for more reviews soon

What do you guys think? Have you tried BP or are you already a member of BP? Do you think it’s worth it? Will you consider it now? If you are a member let me know your thoughts on the products!

This is my full and honest review of Beauty Pie, the products and the concept. It’s definitely a good and exciting idea but there is room for improvement.
